Submucosal Fibroid View 2
Photograph of a hysteroscopic view of the uterine cavity demonstrating the site from which a small round submucosal fibroid was removed (white slightly irregular region in the upper left corner of the visual field) immediately above the right tubal ostium (opening). Perioperative and postoperative estrogen treatment is suggested when there is a significant region of denuded endometrium within the uterine cavity (usually following removal of a fibroid, adhesions, or endometrial polyp). I typically use premarin (2.5mg a day x 30) and provera (10mg a day on days 21 to 30 of premarin) for 1-2 months (depending partly on the size of the defect). | |||||||||||||
